Understanding antisemitism – The Jewish Grandparents Network
Why the Jews? Understanding Antisemitism
Wednesday, March 27 AND Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 7:00–8:00 pm ET
Antisemitism reached its most extreme form with the Holocaust, and now, since the horrors of October 7, we are experiencing a dramatic surge in occurrences. Recently, grandparents have asked JGN how to understand and address antisemitism with their grandchildren. In this two-part series, grandparents will experience a multimedia introduction to the roots of antisemitism from the development of anti-Judaism to modern antisemitism. We invite you to include your own children and grandchildren ages 15+.
The workshop, led by educator and historian Brendan Murphy, will take place on Zoom over two sessions, each for one hour. The fee to attend both sessions is $50 per family. After you register, you are welcome to share the Zoom link with your own family.

Participants will explore how:
Antisemitism reveals itself and why the Jewish people have been targeted throughout history.
Historical patterns of antisemitism can help societies recognize early signs of discrimination and take steps to prevent its recurrence.
Understanding the consequences of prejudice can lead to a more inclusive and compassionate society that values the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their background.
Learning the history of antisemitism is crucial for promoting tolerance, preventing discrimination, and fostering a society that values diversity and human rights.
